.SYNOPSIS...
Cooler conditions are expected through Wednesday with a deeper
marine layer. Low clouds are expected to reach into the western
valleys tonight into Wednesday morning. The marine layer will become
shallower for Thursday into Friday. Warmer and drier conditions with
weak to locally moderate northeasterly winds are expected for Friday
and Saturday. Dry conditions will continue into early next week,
with the potential for additional rounds of Santa Ana winds.

SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

At 9 AM visible satellite was showing areas of high clouds moving to
the northeast and patchy low clouds along the San Diego coast. Low
clouds are expected to become more widespread in coverage tonight
into Wednesday morning. Low clouds are expected to reach the western
valleys, maybe locally into the edges of the Inland Empire. Any
areas of fog will be on coastal mesas and higher coastal terrain.
The marine layer will start to become shallower Wednesday night into
Thursday with the return of weak offshore flow. Low clouds are
expected again Thursday into early Friday before more persistent and
widespread offshore flow returns.

Highs today are expected to be a few degrees cooler than yesterday
for most locations, with a degree or two of warming for the low
deserts. Additional cooling is expected into Wednesday. Even with
the slight cooling, temperatures away from the coast will remain
above average. Warming is expected for Thursday through Saturday.

High pressure will build aloft just off the US West Coast for Friday
and Saturday with an area of low pressure aloft over Arizona and
northern Mexico. Weak to locally moderate northeast winds are
expected, along with warm and dry conditions. High temperatures
Friday and Saturday will be 7 to 15 degrees above average. Peak wind
gusts will likely be 35 to 45 mph on the coastal slopes of the
mountains, mountain foothills, and locally into the eastern valleys.
Winds look like they will be strongest on Saturday.

Early next week, an area of low pressure will dig south into
northern United States, with a ridge of high pressure near the US
West Coast. There is still a lot of uncertainty on where the low
will end up. For Monday, about 50 percent of solutions have the low
digging into the Great Basin, with 50 percent showing the low
digging in the Upper Midwest. The uncertainty continues for Tuesday,
with about 55 percent of ensemble solutions showing the low digging
into the Four Corners region with the other 45 percent showing the
low further east over the Midwest. The ultimate placement of this
low will determine how strong any Santa Ana winds will be, if we get
them at all. Regardless, it looks like warmer and drier conditions
will prevail into early next week with some degree of ridging
aloft.

.AVIATION...
031700Z....Coasts/Valleys...Areas of low clouds (based around 700-
1000ft MSL) that snuck ashore coastal San Diego County are now
clearing out, with VFR conditions returning area wide in the next
hour. Aside from mid-high clouds at 15,000-20,000ft MSL, mostly
clear skies and VFR will prevail through this evening. More
widespread low clouds will begin move ashore after 23-01z this
evening, pushing 10-15mi inland by 06z Wednesday morning. Bases
tonight will increase to around 800-1200 feet MSL. VIS restrictions
to 0-5SM after 03z on higher terrain and in western valleys. Clouds
look to clear out around 18-19z Wednesday.

Mountains/Deserts...SCT-BKN high clouds at or above 15000 feet MSL
today and tonight. Otherwise, mostly clear skies and VFR conditions
prevail.

No hazardous marine weather conditions are expected through
Saturday.

.BEACHES...
Astronomical high tides of around 6 feet will occur at 9:12 AM PST
today. Minor tidal overflow in lowest coastal locations is possible.
A Beach Hazard Statement is in effect through noon.
